A Crowsnest Modular Home in Canada by Challenger 500x333 Crowsnest Modular Home Design by Challenger in Canada

When we are confronted by problem that concerning affordability based on building cost, the need for space and construction time. How do you react when you know, that with cost a mere $210, you can have a 1050 square foot modern prefab home (includes the land and installation) that could be built within 38 days? Are you interested? if your answer is yes, so…let us refer to this article with either.

Designed by Architects Challenger / Herb Enns, OS1 Design, this single house called Crowsnest modular home that located in Crow’s Nest Pass, Alberta, Canada has been completed with efficiency and the eco-smart concept. The Challenger home quality-built to the highest standards to operate with 30 percent less energy than a typical site-built house with a standard 15 year warranty, that is reflecting the best practices of sustainable design and offering at the same time future-proof comfort and convenience.

A high-efficiency wood burning fireplace in the living room was installed with a furnace intake above so the furnace would draw pre-warmed air from above the fireplace and circulate it to the all space of modular home. On milder days, this warm air will be sufficient to warm the house. This perfect home is positioned to take full advantage of the lower winter sun, and a precision-designed cedar awning over the triple-glazed windows helps protect from the heat of summer sun.

The sustainable house design which has a wall of 2 × 8 with a double and staggered 2 × 4 stud system on 16” centers was isolated with two batts of R14 Roxul mineral wool with an air space between. The home design with casement window placement throughout the home allows for natural cooling by creating convection through the house which naturally causes the warm air to exhaust up through the staircase and out of the windows in the tatami room (pod roof). No cooling system planned for the house.

The green project of OS House is a colorful 1,900 square foot single-family residence that located in an old downtown neighborhood in industrial Racine, Wisconsin. Designed by Johnsen Schmaling Architects for a young family demonstrates how a small, sustainable residence built with a moderate budget can become a confident, new-urban constituent and a harbinger of change, this One of the first LEED Platinum certified homes is a simple rectangular volume that mediates between the three-story mansion to the north and the mid-century ranch to the south with a series of outdoor rooms such as an entry court, elevated patios, and a main-level terrace. A one-car garage with bike storage also is integrated into the volume of the house.

The project utilizes a variety of sustainable materials including a ventilated rainscreens, high-efficiency glazing, low-flow water fixtures, and permeable surfaces to mitigate stormwater runoff. These materials, coupled with innovative technologies such as a free-standing PV array, photovoltaic roof laminates, and a deep-well geothermal heating/cooling system allows the residence to operate off the grid for most of the year (and even function as a net producer during peak energy harvest).
